- CHECK FOR OTHER DTCS
- CHECK FOR LEAKAGE BETWEEN THE PURGE SOLENOID 2 AND THE EVAPORATIVE CANISTER
- Turn the ignition off.
- Remove the vacuum line from the outlet port of the Purge Solenoid 2 (this is the line that leads to the Evaporative Canister).
- Check the line for a leak.
Is the line leaking?
Yes
- Repair the leak between the Purge Solenoid 2 and the Evaporative Canister.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 3
- CHECK THE VACUUM SUPPLY AT THE OUTLET OF THE PURGE SOLENOID 2
- Remove the vacuum line from the outlet port of the Purge Solenoid 2 (this is the line that leads to the Evaporative Canister) if not previously done so.
- Connect a vacuum gauge to the outlet port of the Purge Solenoid 2.
- Start the engine and allow it to idle long enough for the Purge Solenoid 2 to cycle on.
- Check the vacuum supply at the Purge Solenoid 2 outlet port.
Is engine vacuum present?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Go To 4
- CHECK THE VACUUM SUPPLY AT THE INLET OF THE PURGE SOLENOID 2
- Remove the vacuum line from the inlet port of the Purge Solenoid 2 (this is the line that leads to the Engine).
- Check the vacuum supply to the Purge Solenoid 2.
Is engine vacuum present?
Yes
- Verify that there is good pin to terminal contact in the solenoid and PCM harness connectors. Replace the Purge Solenoid 2 if no problems were found in the connectors.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Repair the cause of loss of vacuum (broken or pinched vacuum supply line or obstruction in the vacuum port).
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
- CHECK THE (K859) ELCM PRESSURE SENSOR 5-VOLT SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the ELCM harness connector.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Measure the voltage on the (K859) ELCM Pressure Sensor 5-Volt Supply circuit at the ELCM harness connector.
Is the voltage between 4.9 to 5.1 volts?
Yes
- Verify that there is good pin to terminal contact in the ELCM harness connector. If no problems were found with the connector, replace the ELCM in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Repair the (K859) ELCM Pressure Sensor 5-Volt Supply circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
